EZ Thumbnail Builder photo book software is an online application that specializes in thumbnail photo albums. Once downloaded onto your computer, you can enable a direct link to open from your desktop.

EZ Thumbnail Builder’s photo book software allows you to create projects from scratch, building albums from the base up. They have background templates and a simple photo editor built into the software so you can personalize the album as well. However, this photo album software has a lot to be desired. The completed album is actually a page of thumbnail images displayed in columns and rows. When you click on one image, a new window pops open and you can view a slide show of a larger versions of the images. There are no photo embellishments, no book-style preview and no additional graphics. It is quite simply a slideshow of thumbnails with no additional features.

This photo album software’s interface is definitely not EZ. In fact, it took us at least four run-throughs to completely grasp the process. A wizard takes you through each step, but you must carefully read each and every subsection to customize your photo album. Boxes need to be checked or unchecked, photo dimensions need to be specified, and save-to directories have to be found – just to name a few. You can always go back to each step and change selections, but if the options were clear in the first place, going back wouldn’t be necessary. To share your completed photo album, you have to save the album to your hard drive and then either upload it to an FTP site or burn it onto a CD. If you choose the latter, you will have to set the CD to auto-run or the person you share it with will have to comb through file upon file to actually find the album.

EZ Thumbnail Builder photo book software is markedly lacking in help options as well. Yes, they do have an email address, but we emailed them with questions regarding this review and have yet to receive an answer back. There is no other way to contact them. To us, the lack of contact information was a red flag. We're always a little wary of developers who don't make themselves available to their customers.

On EZ Thumbnail Builder’s website they say the photo book software is only supported on Windows 95/98/Me/XP, Windows NT, Windows 2000 operating systems. However, we tested the application on a Windows 7 operating system and it worked just fine. There was no mention of compatibility with Mac operating systems and our guess is that it wouldn’t work even if you tried.
